How dogs think, learn, communicate and problem-solve - The Washington Post

Everything about NJ town banned dogs from its parksNow the poop really hit

( Since Rascal had grown so big already he hardly suit the rear seats of my small cars and truck. Now he flights in design in the back of the SUV with the rear seats folded down and wall to wall pet beds supplying ample cushion for him as he elegantly points his nose into the wind.)  This Piece Covers It Well  got an official picture of handsome Rascal (and some shots people together) with an expert pet photographer.

Within a few months of Rascal's first birthday in January 2008 we both got certified by the Delta Society (now called Family pet Partners) as at therapy canine group. My intent was for us to visit individuals in hospitals and assisted living home to offer people a boost mentally and to return to the community.

Initially, Rascal began going through a secondary worry imprint stage where he was suddenly skittish and scared of things he 'd formerly been fine with wheelchairs, the clatter of a pair of falling crutches, etc. Borzoi is a notoriously skittish breed and young Rascal had unexpectedly come into his own, Borzoi-wise.

Essentially to continue obedience training to wait out this perfectly regular -albeit aggravating- developmental stage. Within a few months of that choice I have identified with a medical impairment myself, and consequently figured out that Rascal's brand-new path would not be as a therapy dog but instead would be: Service Pet dog! He was currently rigorously trained through our myriad of classes, and per federal law I just needed to train him to do any one thing to help me (in addition to being handicapped myself, of course).
